 Advent PHI
Challenge:
To assess the organisational capacity of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu to deliver healthcare services and improve outcomes with a focus on rural and poor.

Approach :
1.Prepared analytical framework for analysis of inter and intra-departmental;dynamics.
2. Secondary research on demographic and healthcare data on Tamil Nadu, India and International .
3.Designated two project teams to assess healthcare delivery and organisational dynamics at the directorate level in Chennai and acrosstwo representative districts in the state.
4.Extensive data gathering at the field-level, conducted focus groups with stakeholders, interviewed employees and patients.

Solution:
Assessment and analysis helped define areas for capacity building. Final report handed over end-April, 2004.

 AdventHBO
Challenge:
To design, start up and operate India's first private Hyperbaric Treatment Center at Apollo Hospital New Delhi on a profit sharing model. Ensure its success both as a professionally run new service and a financially viable unit.

Approach:
1.Prepared feasibility study and report for this Rs.1 Crore project.
2.Conducted safety trials & developed national guidelines for practice of Hyperbaric Medicine.
3.Selected and trained staff for running and managing the equipment. 4.Developed costing models for pricing of services & finance sharing models for doctors.
5.Advertised and marketed the therapy to doctors in Apollo and outside the hospital, and developed website www.hyperbaricindia.com.

Solution:
Low cost center created using local expertise and upgrading capabilities on par with International standards.

Current status:

The center is operated and promoted by Dr. Tarun Sahni, Co-founder of Advent Healthcare.

 Advent HAM
Challenge:
Evolve a Health Care Delivery System in India and develop criteria for planning a tertiary care hospital. Advise on clinical, technical, administrative and personnel-related aspects of health care management.

Approach:

1.Carried out market research (with ORG - MARG) and identified existing need gaps in Community Health Care delivery.
2. Evolved a new Health Care Delivery System integrating professional American values (inputs from Harvard Medical International) with Indian practice, cultural & financial variations.
3.Selected IT specifications from a range of Hospital Information systems. Developed processes to introduce use of computers by doctors in primary consultation .
4.Identified doctor's professional, financial, social aspirations and evolved a system to provide these in a professionally stimulating, scientific and ethical environment .
5.Evaluated various models of hospital design and architecture and prepared guidelines for evaluating various equipment used in medical establishments .
6.Prepared standardized processes to be applied in Max Health Care units and evolved processes to involve the community in health Activities.

Solution:

Business plan approved for implementation and roll out started in October 2000.

Current status:

The organization has built significant brand value and has been granted soft loans from the ADB for over Rs.100 Crores. Ranjit Barthakur, Co-founder of Advent, is on their advisory board.

Challenge:
Design and start a modern multispeciality polyclinic in the commercial hub of NOIDA a growing satellite town of Delhi.

Approach:

1.Evaluated feasibility and prepared project report for setting up doctors chambers in NOIDA.
2.Devised financially attractive models to motivate a consortium of superspecialists to use these services. Advertised and marketed the services to doctors and patients.
3.Used innovative methods for health care delivery: site location in busy commercial area, calling system for wheel chair and assistance, web site for online appointments etc.
4.Recruited and trained staff. Prepared processes and financial packages.

Solution:

The polyclinic has successfully established a presence in the neighbourhood.

Current status:
The clinic is undergoing reorganization in view of some key specialists having moved overseas. Revival and creation of additional revenue models being evaluated.

Challenge:
Customize Australian medical software system for implementation in India.

Approach:

1.Developed a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities of the system and cross-mapped it with the processes in Indian hospitals.
2.Prepared marketing strategy and enabled business development with potential customers.

Solution:

Successfully customized the software and created a core team for implementation.

Current Status:

The software is being installed in 3 major hospitals in Northern India.

Challenge:
Review operational effectiveness, staff and infrastructure utilization, and explore new business opportunities in a 150-bed specialty hospital in Assam.

Approach:

1.Created a model for providing health care services for the entire region.
2.Repositioned GNRC and defined long term and short term vision.
3.Leverage Existing Revenue Generators and reorganized Revenue Negators.
4.Promoted existing Neurology service on basis of research and financial analysis.

Solution:

Developed a improvement plan for business and medical delivery.

Current status:

Increased revenues and infrastructure, expansion programs in place.

Challenge:
To design a teaching program for spectrum healthcare workers to realize the potential of IT in enhancing productivity.

Approach:

1.Defined concept and training areas.
2.Designed a teaching program for doctors and nurses and an overview program for other healthcare statisticians and workers.
3.Identified a teaching faculty for the different areas.

Solution:

 Successfully designed the course and created a team to teach the program.

Current status:

The course is being marketed and state health systems showing great interest.

Facilitate HMI in their initiative in India to develop a robust healthcare system integrating American processes with Indian systems of medicine. Strategic advice given to Harvard Medical International (HMI) on its India market entry strategy with its Indian partner.

Profile:
Help in ISO 9002 implementation & IT enabling for a specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi to re-engineer existing activities and develop new processes. Also, evolve.
a casualty evacuation first aid training program for offshore oil industry and commercial divers in the UAE.
